Vice Minister Choi Sang-dae: "Full Effort to Achieve Public Institution Investment Targets in the First Half of the Year"

Choi Sang-dae, the 2nd Vice Minister of the Ministry of Economy and Finance, visited the Korea Expressway Corporation's Hangang Tunnel construction site in Paju, Gyeonggi Province on the 30th and stated, "The government and public institutions should unite their capabilities and make every effort to achieve the investment execution target for the first half of the year through meticulous execution management."

This visit by Vice Minister Choi was made to listen to the progress of major social overhead capital (SOC) construction projects, which account for a large portion of public institution investment execution, and to hear about difficulties in execution at the site. The government has decided to actively respond to the economic slowdown by early executing 34.8 trillion won out of the 63.4 trillion won investment target of major public institutions in the first half of this year.

At the investment execution status briefing held at the Korea Expressway Corporation's Hangang Tunnel construction site, Vice Minister Choi said, "We are holding monthly investment execution inspection meetings to ensure that investments by major public institutions proceed without any setbacks so that public institution investments can contribute to overcoming the economic crisis," and urged, "Going forward, all public institutions should unite their capabilities and make every effort through meticulous execution management to prevent carryovers and project delays and to achieve the investment execution target for the first half of the year."
