The Gyeongbuk Office of Education (Superintendent Lim Jong-sik) held a meeting on the 29th with school administrators from 15 elementary schools celebrating their 100th anniversary this year to prepare for various events.
At the meeting, guidance was provided on the purpose of the 100th anniversary projects and precautions for budget execution, followed by in-depth discussions on curriculum-linked plans to make the events meaningful for students.
The Gyeongbuk Office of Education expects that through this project, which aims to commemorate the 100th anniversary, strengthen bonds with alumni and local residents, and create an opportunity to leap forward as future schools, each school will raise awareness of their centennial within the local community and have a chance to enhance their status and role.
Superintendent Lim Jong-sik of Gyeongbuk stated, “I hope the 100th anniversary events held together with local residents will become a harmonious occasion where students, parents, alumni, and community members can all participate, and furthermore, I ask for efforts to establish a foundation for revitalizing educational donations for school development.”
The schools celebrating their 100th anniversary this year are Angangjeil Elementary School, Yangnam Elementary School, Uigok Elementary School in Gyeongju; Acheon Elementary School in Gimcheon; Haepyeong Elementary School in Gumi; Buseok Elementary School in Yeongju; Geumho Elementary School in Yeongcheon; Nongam Elementary School, Hoseonam Elementary School in Mungyeong; Anpyeong Elementary School in Uiseong; Geumcheon Elementary School in Cheongdo; Byeokjin Elementary School in Seongju; Yongmun Elementary School, Jibo Elementary School, and Maehwa Elementary School in Uljin, totaling 15 schools.
The Gyeongbuk Office of Education plans to invest 280 million KRW in operating school love curricula, commemorative exhibitions, publication celebrations, festivals with alumni, parents, and local residents, as well as establishing a 100th anniversary memorial park and museum.
