SK Telecom and Mirae Asset Securities have joined forces to lead the creation of a token securities (ST) ecosystem.
On the 30th, SK Telecom announced that it signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to form the 'Next Finance Initiative' (NFI) consortium with Mirae Asset Securities to prepare and promote the token securities business. The token securities business refers to supporting the securitization of various assets such as real estate and artworks, and issuing and distributing token securities based on distributed ledger technology. It is expected that various token securities will be issued not only in existing real estate and artwork fractional investments but also in entertainment sectors such as webtoons, movies, and dramas.
On the same day, the two companies agreed to establish 'NFI' for the token securities business and to cooperate in building token securities infrastructure, jointly discovering underlying assets for token securities, and developing linked services.
SK Telecom plans to leverage its capabilities as an ICT leading company in IT technologies and infrastructure such as blockchain, which form the foundation of token securities, and combine them with the expertise of Mirae Asset Securities, a specialized financial investment group, to create business opportunities.
Additionally, both parties will encourage the participation of leading domestic companies in 'NFI' and utilize the capabilities of 'NFI' participating companies to play roles in incubating and accelerating companies and projects wishing to issue token securities.
