Fake Perfumes and Bags Sold to 2,000 People on Online Shopping Mall... Daegu Police Arrest Two

On the 30th, the Daegu Police Agency arrested two individuals on charges of fraud and trademark infringement for deceiving consumers by selling counterfeit luxury goods as genuine products on an online shopping mall, and booked two others without detention.


They are accused of importing counterfeit luxury perfumes and bags such as Chanel from China into South Korea and selling them to about 2,000 people through an online shopping mall, falsely claiming they were genuine, earning 230 million won.

According to the police investigation, they attached luxury brand names such as Chanel, Gucci, Dior, Yves Saint Laurent, Jo Malone, and Tom Ford?17 brands in total?to counterfeit Chinese products and sold them.


The police confirmed that some of the seized counterfeit luxury goods contained methanol, a substance harmful to the human body, and have requested additional analysis from the National Forensic Service.


The police seized 271 counterfeit perfumes labeled with luxury brands such as Chanel, and 74 counterfeit bags and wallets labeled with brands such as Chanel.
