The largest azalea colony in the country, Hwangmaesan in Sancheong, Gyeongnam, will host the pink spectacle 'Sancheong Hwangmaesan Azalea Festival' for the first time in four years.
According to Sancheong-gun, Gyeongnam, on the 30th, the Sancheong Hwangmaesan Azalea Festival Committee held its regular general meeting at Chahwang-myeon Office on the 28th.
At the regular general meeting attended by about 30 people including festival committee members, it was confirmed that the '39th Sancheong Hwangmaesan Azalea Festival' will be held for 16 days from April 29 to May 14.
In particular, they discussed the overall plans for the azalea festival operation, including the azalea abundant harvest ritual, various experience events, a marketplace for agricultural specialties, and local restaurants, and resolved to make thorough preparations for the festival.
Accordingly, the Sancheong Hwangmaesan Azalea Festival, which was temporarily suspended due to COVID-19, will welcome visitors again.
This year's azalea festival, under the theme 'Fall in Love with Azaleas Again, Fall in Love with Sancheong Again!', is expected to captivate spring visitors with the beautiful appearance and fragrance of Hwangmaesan's azaleas in line with the recovery of daily life.
Lee Moon-hyuk, chairman of the Sancheong Hwangmaesan Azalea Festival Committee, said, "We will gift the spring of Sancheong to the public, who have been withdrawn due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic, with the emotion given by the beautiful azaleas," adding, "We will do our best to prepare a rich and enjoyable event so that visitors can heal."
