Kim Dong-yeon Personally Leads Investment Attraction from Belgium's Heraeus Electronite Gyeonggi Province Governor Kim Dong-yeon is discussing investment cooperation and other interests with Martin Eckermann, CEO of Heraeus Electronite Belgium, in his office on the 29th.

Gyeonggi Province Governor Kim Dong-yeon personally took the initiative to attract investment from the European hidden champion company, Heraeus Electro-Nite, a global company with world-class competitiveness that is not well known to the public.


On the 29th, Governor Kim met with Martin Ackermann, CEO of Heraeus Electro-Nite, who visited Korea to meet domestic clients, at his office and requested an expansion of investment in the province.


He also expressed a strong willingness to actively support collaboration with small and medium-sized enterprises in the province to assist corporate management.


Heraeus Electro-Nite, a subsidiary of the Heraeus Group, the world leader in industrial sensors, is reportedly considering expanding its manufacturing facilities in Pyeongtaek City.


Through this consultation, Governor Kim requested CEO Martin Ackermann to increase investment of the advanced technologies possessed by the Heraeus Group in Gyeonggi Province and explained the province’s proactive efforts to attract investment.


Governor Kim Dong-yeon said, "I understand that the Heraeus Group is a prestigious global advanced company, and I am grateful that it has had a good relationship with Gyeonggi Province for a long time, expanding investment and building many connections with small and medium-sized materials and parts companies." He added, "I expect great synergy effects by harmonizing with the dynamism of Gyeonggi Province and Pyeongtaek City. We will spare no support that Gyeonggi Province can provide."


He continued, "Since taking office, I have been promoting innovation in provincial administration and working methods. I believe we will be good partners with the common theme of innovation." He added, "You are also operating startups, and since I am very interested in startups, I promised to make Gyeonggi Province a startup paradise. It would be even better if we have opportunities to work together."


In response, CEO Martin Ackermann said, "Heraeus is a company very interested in recycling and low carbon, and it has been continuously growing in various fields recently and expanding globally." He added, "We hope for continuous investment and growth in the industrial sensor and measurement market. We look forward to Gyeonggi Province’s active support."


He also expressed a strong invitation, hoping to have an opportunity to discuss additional cooperation plans at the German headquarters when Governor Kim visits Europe.


Heraeus Electro-Nite is a group company in the industrial sensor sector used in steel and semiconductors, recording sales of 518 million euros (about 620 billion KRW) in 2021, with 30 subsidiaries in 25 countries and 4,000 employees.


Since entering Korea in 1980, it has led the market by gaining quality recognition from POSCO and others in the steel industrial sensor and measurement market through its branch, Woojin Electro-Nite, located in Pyeongtaek City. It is also creating a domestic ecosystem in the industrial sensor sector through production cooperation with 68 small and medium-sized enterprises in the province to manufacture innovative sensors.
