On the 29th, Sunchang-gun, Jeonbuk announced that it will expand its early retirement support program for old diesel vehicles to reduce fine dust and greenhouse gas emissions.
This year's early retirement support program has added Grade 4 emission diesel vehicles and construction machinery, with a budget of 807 million won to support 360 vehicles.
The added construction machinery includes dump trucks, concrete mixer trucks, forklifts, and excavators manufactured to meet emission standards.
The support conditions require that the vehicle must have been continuously registered in Sunchang-gun for at least six months as of the application date, and vehicles equipped with emission reduction devices or converted to low-emission engines through government support are excluded.
Submitted vehicles will have their evaluation requested from the Korea Automobile Environment Association, and the final support amount will be determined based on the results. In addition to the scrapping subsidy, additional subsidies can be received when purchasing new or used vehicles.
Applications can be made online (through the Vehicle Emission Grade System website) or by visiting the relevant eup or myeon administrative welfare centers until the budget is exhausted. Vehicle owners who scrap diesel vehicles registered in the county (excluding export cancellations) and additionally purchase a new LPG 1-ton cargo vehicle can apply at the county Environmental Capital Division.
