Yeonggwang-gun, Jeollanam-do (Governor Kang Jong-man) announced on the 29th that it will hold a contest for symbols open to the entire nation until the 26th of next month to successfully host the 63rd Jeonnam Sports Festival and the 32nd Jeonnam Disabled Sports Festival and to foster a participatory atmosphere.
The contest targets a total of 16 entries across 5 categories: ▲Integrated symbols for both events (2 emblems, 2 mascots), ▲Jeonnam Sports Festival (2 posters, 2 slogans, 2 mottos), and ▲Jeonnam Disabled Sports Festival (2 posters, 2 slogans, 2 mottos). Each individual may submit only one entry per category.
The theme of this contest is to concisely express the unity and solidarity of 2 million Jeonnam residents by linking the traditional and historical cultural vision of Jeonnam, "Land of Life, Premier Jeonnam," and the brand image of the host city Yeonggwang-gun, "Millennium Light Yeonggwang," with the spirit of sports.
The total prize money is 13 million KRW, and a total of 16 winning works across 5 categories, including winning and runner-up entries, will be selected through a fair evaluation by a panel of experts in each category.
Submissions can be made by downloading the application forms from the official county website's notices/announcements section and submitting them in person or by mail to the Jeonnam Sports Festival TF team at the Yeonggwang-gun Sports Industry Division. Slogans and mottos can also be submitted via email.
Meanwhile, the 63rd Jeonnam Sports Festival is scheduled to be held for four days in April 2024, and the 32nd Jeonnam Disabled Sports Festival will take place for three days in May 2024 at the Yeonggwang Sportium area. The final schedule will be confirmed at the second half of 2023 Jeollanam-do (Disabled) Sports Council board meeting.
