"The Essence of Pure Electric Sedan"... Emphasizing Rear Seat Comfort
Last December, a familiar figure was seen at the BMW Driving Center on Yeongjongdo Island in Incheon. It was Lee Jae-yong, Chairman of Samsung Electronics. He met with Oliver Zipse, Chairman of BMW Group. The reason for their meeting was the delivery ceremony of the BMW 7 Series' first pure electric vehicle, the i7. This model was chosen by Chairman Lee and delivered as 10 company cars for Samsung affiliates' executives. Until now, Samsung's management had been driving domestic large sedans, but they chose 'change.'
BMW is receiving many consumer choices in the domestic electric vehicle market. According to data from Kaizyu Data Research Institute, the best-selling imported electric vehicle model in the domestic market from January to February this year was the BMW i4 (409 units). Despite the lack of confirmed electric vehicle subsidies, which inevitably led to low sales, it was the top seller. The i7 outperformed competing models. The Mercedes-Benz EQS sold 51 units from last year through February this year, while the i7 sold 70 units, more than the EQS.
The i7 showcases the 'essence' of electric sedans with its luxurious interior and exterior. The front features an enlarged BMW signature kidney grille, surrounded by lighting. The instrument cluster and display use a curved display, and augmented reality navigation is also equipped.
The most eye-catching feature is the rear seat. It is equipped with a 31.3-inch theater screen. With 8K resolution and a 32:9 aspect ratio, it is the world's first in-vehicle entertainment system of its kind. Netflix, YouTube, and other streaming services can be viewed. Through HDMI connection, external device content playback is also possible, making it usable as a 'mobile conference room.' In theater mode, all rear seat blinds are deployed, and the interior lighting brightness is adjusted. 4D sound is an added bonus. The Bowers & Wilkins Diamond Surround Sound System is standard, delivering up to 1965W output through 35 speakers.
There are many features for relaxation as well. The rear seat on the passenger side offers reclining functionality, a leg rest, and armrest heating. The seatback can recline up to 42.5°, and the neck cushion is adjustable. Heating and ventilation functions are also provided.
The pure electric model i7 xDrive60 is priced at 215.7 million KRW for the Design Pure Excellence Executive Package and 218.7 million KRW for the M Sport Package.
