CJ Launches 'Girl Education Project' for Ethnic Minority Education in Vietnam

CJ announced on the 29th that it has launched the 'Vietnam Girls' Education Phase 2 Project' for ethnic minority groups in Vietnam.


The Vietnam Girls' Education Phase 2 Project is a community awareness improvement program aimed at boosting the confidence of students and strengthening the capabilities of staff in Ninh Thuan Province, Cao Bang Province, and Kon Tum Province, and will be operated over the next two years. CJ plans to support $250,000 (approximately 300 million KRW) from the funds raised through the 'CJ-UNESCO Girls' Education Campaign.' The Phase 1 project, which was carried out over three years starting in 2019, was evaluated as having made a significant contribution to creating a healthy educational environment and improving awareness of female education in Vietnam.

The launch ceremony held on the 28th in Hanoi, Vietnam, was attended by key officials and about 100 local residents, including Min Hee-kyung, Head of CJ CheilJedang's Social Contribution Promotion Team; Justin Sass, Director of Gender Equality Education at UNESCO Headquarters; Christian Menhart, Head of UNESCO Vietnam Office; Vu Minh Duc, Director of Teacher Policy Department at the Vietnam Ministry of Education; and Be Thi Hong Van, Deputy Director of the Ethnic Policy Department at the Vietnam Committee for Ethnic Minorities.


Min Hee-kyung, Head of CJ CheilJedang's Social Contribution Promotion Team, said, "The success of the Phase 1 project despite the COVID-19 situation was due to the passionate and dedicated participation of all stakeholders, including students, teachers, parents, the local community, and the Vietnam Ministry of Education. The newly launched girls' education project will also be supported without hesitation based on CJ's philosophy of sharing, so that more children can receive education without discrimination and grow into talents who will lead Vietnam's future."
