A Total of 11 People Involved in Ultra-Wide Area Cooperation Projects and Development Plan Establishment
The ‘Bu-Ul-Gyeong Ultra-wide Area Economic Alliance Promotion Team,’ a cooperative system overseeing ultra-wide area cooperation among the three cities and provinces of Busan, Ulsan, and Gyeongnam, will officially launch on the 29th.
This promotion team was established following an agreement last October by the heads of the three local governments of Bu-Ul-Gyeong to form the ‘Bu-Ul-Gyeong Ultra-wide Area Economic Alliance’ aimed at resolving the metropolitan area’s unipolar dominance and promoting mutual development in the southeastern region.
After several consultations among the three local governments, it was decided to jointly support personnel and operating budgets, and to set up office space on the first floor of Busan City Hall.
The organization will operate under Busan City, consisting of one division and two teams (Ultra-wide Area Policy Team and Ultra-wide Area Project Team). Five personnel, including a Grade 4 director, will be dispatched from Busan, and three public officials each from Ulsan and Gyeongnam.
The main roles include ▲ overall discovery, planning, and coordination of Bu-Ul-Gyeong ultra-wide area cooperative projects ▲ establishment of ultra-wide area development plans ▲ promotion of external cooperation affairs such as national support measures for cooperative projects and securing national funding, with the primary goal of producing tangible results.
Kim Doo-gyeom, Mayor of Ulsan, stated, “Through the operation of a dedicated department for the economic alliance, which is an efficient and flexible organization, we expect to respond swiftly with cooperation where balanced development among Bu-Ul-Gyeong is needed.”
