Suwon City Supports 'Restaurant Hygiene Ratings' at 20 Locations This Year

Suwon City Supports 'Restaurant Hygiene Ratings' at 20 Locations This Year Suwon City Hall

The city of Suwon in Gyeonggi Province is recruiting 20 food service establishments to participate in consulting support for the 'Restaurant Hygiene Rating System.'

The Restaurant Hygiene Rating System is a program led by the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety, where business operators voluntarily apply for a hygiene rating evaluation. The Korea Food Safety Management Certification Authority assesses the hygiene status of restaurants and designates outstanding establishments as one of three rating levels, which are then publicly disclosed and promoted.

Selected establishments for consulting support will receive ▲ a preliminary evaluation for applying for the restaurant hygiene rating ▲ guidance on the application procedures and review of required documents ▲ assistance with the application for the hygiene rating designation ▲ two on-site consulting visits per establishment (providing improvement plans for non-compliant items) ▲ and support for supplies needed to obtain the restaurant hygiene rating.

Businesses wishing to receive consulting support can apply by the 14th of next month.

Establishments designated under the hygiene rating system will be provided with hygiene rating signboards, and facility renovation and repair costs will be supported using the Food Promotion Fund.

A city official stated, "Last year, 30 establishments in the Suwon area received consulting support for the restaurant hygiene rating, and 20 establishments were designated as 'Excellent.' We will continue to support hygiene rating consulting this year to improve the hygiene standards of restaurants in Suwon."
