Expansion of Personal Workspaces and More
Gmarket announced on the 29th that it has transformed its headquarters space into a smart office to enhance work efficiency.
The smart office aims to provide an optimal workspace that increases employees' work efficiency and ultimately contributes to performance creation. In line with Gmarket's hybrid work system, which combines office work and remote work, a more flexible work environment has been created.
The focus rooms, reminiscent of study rooms, are individual workspaces designed for non-face-to-face video meetings or tasks requiring short-term concentration, away from surrounding distractions or noise. There are two types: seated and standing, allowing employees to choose the type of room they prefer at their desired time. A total of 36 focus rooms have been prepared on each floor, and employee response has been positive, with usage rates exceeding 70% shortly after opening.
The hot desk (shared seating) system has also been expanded. It is a free seating system where employees can sit anywhere without assigned seats. Currently, it is operated for developers in the Tech Headquarters, reflecting the nature of their work that requires development tasks without time and location constraints. Employees can freely choose their preferred time and place when coming to the office. Each seat is equipped with two monitors as standard, and personal laptops can be connected immediately. To enhance convenience for hot desk users, dedicated lockers for storing personal belongings have also been provided. The hot desk system is planned to be expanded in scale in the future.
A company convenience store has been newly established to increase rest areas. It is operated as an unmanned convenience store, stocked with various refrigerated and frozen foods, allowing employees to purchase products freely.
A Gmarket representative said, “We aim to create an office environment where employees can work comfortably and enjoyably without being restricted by time and place. We believe that building spaces and systems that enhance work efficiency and creating a company where employees want to work ultimately contributes to performance creation. We plan to continue expanding related services in the future.”
