On the 29th, Leisure Newspaper announced the ‘Top 20 Eco-Friendly Golf Courses,’ which has been selected every two years since 2005. Bear Creek received a golf course evaluation score of 9.8, a golf course memorability score of 9.7, and an eco-friendly implementation score of 38.8, achieving a total score of 95.6 to claim first place. In particular, it has become a benchmark site both domestically and internationally through exemplary eco-friendly management.
Woongjeong Hills (Cheonan, Chungnam) ranked 2nd, Century 21 (Munmak, Gangwon) and Island (Ansan, Gyeonggi) tied for 3rd, Crystal Valley (Gapyeong, Gyeonggi) 4th, Pine Beach (Haenam, Jeonnam) 5th, Seowon Valley (Paju, Gyeonggi) 6th, Shinedale (Hongcheon, Gangwon) 7th, Dream Park (Seo-gu, Incheon) 8th, Sagewood (Hongcheon, Gangwon) 9th, and Blackstone Jeju (Hallim, Jeju) 10th. Sagewood jumped an impressive 11 places from 20th in 2021 to this year. Phoenix Pyeongchang, Oak Valley, Rainbow Hills, Jeju Cypress, and Hanmaek CC newly entered the rankings this year.
Sixty expert panelists from various fields participated in this evaluation. They included 17 golf-related media outlets, 5 golf columnists, 9 golf design and consulting firms, 4 professional golfers, 10 amateur golfers, 5 golf-related environmental professors, and 10 golf-related experts. The eco-friendly golf course evaluation was conducted by combining 40% of the eco-friendly implementation evaluation results from 50 pre-selected golf courses and 60% of the scores given by the 60 panelists for each category (nature-friendliness, clubhouse-friendliness, course evaluation, course memorability, and service), resulting in a total score out of 100.
