Jeonnam Provincial Council Strongly Protests Japan's Textbook Historical Distortion... "Strong Protest" Jeonnam Provincial Council

The Jeonnam Provincial Council has taken strong protest measures against the approval of Japanese elementary school textbooks that distort forced labor during the Japanese colonial period.

On the 28th, the Jeonnam Provincial Council stated, "We strongly protest the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology of Japan for approving 11 types of textbooks to be used by Japanese elementary school students starting next year."

Through spokesperson Choi Jeong-hoon on the same day, the council emphasized, "The announcement by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology of Japan that the term 'forced' was removed from the expression of forced labor in the elementary school textbook review results is blatant historical distortion."

They continued, "Expanding the description of Dokdo as 'Japan's inherent territory' and stating that we have illegally occupied it and protested in all textbooks is a disregard for the Republic of Korea and a mockery of its people."
