Expectations for Korea-Japan Film Industry Exchange
Hapcheon-gun, Gyeongnam Province, announced on the 29th that a group of professors and officials from the Department of Visual Media at Nagoya University of Arts in Japan visited Hapcheon Video Theme Park.
This visit took place as part of the Japanese professors' schedule to tour Korean public institutions and facilities related to video production in order to finalize the 2024 overseas short-term training curriculum at Nagoya University of Arts. The visit to Hapcheon Video Theme Park, a representative filming location in Korea, was requested by the university to Hapcheon-gun.
Guided by staff from the Tourism Promotion Division of Hapcheon-gun, the Japanese professors spent about two hours touring the modern and contemporary filming sets and the Blue House set at Hapcheon Video Theme Park. They took the opportunity to resolve various questions regarding facility operations and support for video production.
They also experienced the bonsai park and garden theme park located behind the video theme park, as well as the monorail, exploring ways to utilize the site not only as a filming location but also as a tourist attraction to revitalize the local economy.
Yoo Seong-gyeong, head of the Tourism Promotion Division, said, “This visit once again made us feel the international interest in Korea’s video industry.” He added, “We will focus on revitalizing Hapcheon Video Theme Park, including the creation of a second video theme park, to attract overseas tourists and further develop the domestic video industry through international exchanges.”
Located near the Baekri Cherry Blossom Road in Hapcheon, Hapcheon Video Theme Park was established in 2004. It is a specialized period open set depicting the 1920s to the 1980s and is the nation’s top filming set where over 360 films, dramas, commercials, music videos, and various other video works have been shot.
