The inspection focused on visitor convenience and safety at key locations including Ocheon Green Plaza, where the main opening ceremony events will take place, the newly created Sunset Garden, Kids Garden, National Garden Botanical Garden, Garden Stay, and the International Association of Horticultural Producers (AIPH) exhibition and competition gardens within Suncheon Bay National Garden.

It is expected that about 30,000 people will gather for the opening ceremony of the 2023 Suncheon Bay International Garden Expo, held at 6 p.m. on the 31st at Ocheon Green Plaza, including 10,000 domestic and international guests and approximately 20,000 general visitors.

Ocheon Green Plaza was originally created as a retention basin to prevent large-scale floods. While maintaining this function, it features the longest 1.2 km-long horse chestnut tree path in Korea along with a year-round grass plaza, attracting great attention as the main stage of the expo.

Governor Kim said, “I will pay close attention until the very end to ensure that Suncheon Bay Garden becomes a successful role model of global garden culture,” adding, “As 2023 is the first year of Jeonnam’s great leap forward into the world, we will vigorously lead the globalization of K-tourism together with Suncheon Bay National Garden.”

The 2023 Suncheon Bay International Garden Expo Organizing Committee carefully reviewed operational status through three rehearsals ahead of the expo opening. In addition, through active promotional marketing, they generated 8.1 billion won in revenue from donations, sponsorships, and advance ticket sales.
