The LPGA Tour announced on the 28th that it will host the "Maybank Championship" at the Kuala Lumpur Golf and Country Club from October 26 to 29, in partnership with Malaysian bank Maybank.

Originally, the LPGA Tour planned to hold the Taiwan Swinging Skirts (total prize money of $2.2 million) in Taipei, Taiwan during this period, but the tournament was canceled on the 24th due to operational reasons. As a result, the tournament has been canceled for four consecutive years since the COVID-19 outbreak in 2020.

The new host country, Malaysia, will hold an LPGA Tour event for the first time in six years since the Sime Darby Malaysia from 2010 to 2017. The Kuala Lumpur Golf and Country Club was the venue for the Sime Darby Malaysia.

A total of 78 players will compete in the Maybank Championship over four days without a cut. The total prize money is $3 million, the highest amount offered this season on the LPGA Tour excluding major championships.
