Nam-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City, has launched a nine-month-long journey with the 'Euddeumhyo Singing Contest' planned to spread the culture of filial piety.
On the 28th, Nam-gu announced that it will hold the 'Euddeumhyo Singing Contest' under the theme 'That Song, That Story,' where participants sing songs containing stories related to filial piety until December.
This singing contest was prepared to share the emerging culture of filial piety with local residents, which began to take root through the Silver Singing Contest in 2021 and the 100-Year-Old Singing Contest last year.
Unlike previous contests, both individuals and groups can perform on stage this time. However, from this year, only songs with stories related to filial piety are allowed to participate.
The singing contest stages will be held a total of 30 times every Wednesday from the preliminary round starting on the 5th of next month until December 13 at the Gwangju Nam-gu branch studio of the Korea Senior Citizens Association.
Residents wishing to participate can apply by phone at the local dong administrative welfare center near their residence, the Nam-gu Office's Senior Policy Division, or the Gwangju Nam-gu branch of the Korea Senior Citizens Association.
