Son Jae-il CEO "Growth as a Comprehensive Defense Company... Strengthening Space and Mobility"
Hanwha Aerospace held its regular general shareholders' meeting on the 28th at the Seongnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Seongnam, Gyeonggi Province, and reappointed Kim Dong-kwan, Vice Chairman of Hanwha Group and CEO of the Strategy Division, as an inside director.
Vice Chairman Kim oversees the group's core businesses such as manufacturing and defense. He serves as CEO of Hanwha Aerospace, Hanwha Solutions, and the Hanwha Strategy Division.
At the shareholders' meeting, Hanwha Aero newly appointed Ahn Byung-chul, Head of the Strategy Office, as an inside director, and newly appointed Kim Hyun-jin as an outside director and Jeon Jin-gu as an audit committee member.
As Hanwha Group's defense business was integrated into Hanwha Aero, the company added the following to its business objectives: ▲ manufacturing of weapons and ammunition ▲ manufacturing, sales, storage, and transportation of military supplies ▲ military supply business ▲ manufacturing of combat vehicles ▲ manufacturing of energy storage devices. The company stated that these additions were due to "small-scale mergers and the promotion of new businesses."
Son Jae-il, CEO of Hanwha Aero, said in his greeting at the shareholders' meeting, "In the defense industry sector, we will accelerate the acquisition of large overseas projects currently underway through the merger with Hanwha Defense and continue to grow as a comprehensive defense company with world-class competitiveness."
He added, "We will steadily advance the development of launch system technology and urban air mobility hydrogen fuel cell systems currently underway to strengthen our leading position in the space and future mobility sectors."
He also stated, "In the aviation business sector, we will specialize sites in Korea, the United States, and Vietnam, while strengthening existing business capabilities, and continue to expand engine parts supply contracts with leading engine manufacturers such as GE, Pratt & Whitney, and Rolls-Royce."
