Spokesperson Kim Eui-gyeom Resigns: "I Will Strut Freely Like a Zebra's Stripes"

"Feeling Unburdened After Letting Go"

Kim Eui-gyeom, a member of the Democratic Party who recently stepped down from his position as party spokesperson, mentioned Sero, the zebra that recently made headlines for escaping from a zoo, saying, "I will face challenges more freely and confidently. I will strut around like Sero."

On the 27th, Kim opened his post on Facebook by saying, "I have resigned as the party spokesperson. I worked for about seven months. It was not a long time, but it was not a light period either."

He continued, "I tried my best, but a part of my heart was always heavy. Now that I have let go, I feel incredibly relieved," adding, "However, I will not loosen the reins in the fight against the Yoon Seok-yeol administration." Then he added, "I will strut around like Sero, the zebra that escaped from the zoo."

On the same day, Lee Jae-myung, the leader of the Democratic Party, carried out a large-scale party personnel reshuffle. In this process, Kim also decided to step down from his spokesperson position. Although other spokespersons and party officials were replaced in this reshuffle, Kim was the first to be mentioned as a replacement candidate due to various controversies, including the 'Cheongdam-dong drinking party allegations.'

Kim Geun-sik, former head of the People Power Party’s Vision and Strategy Office and a professor of political science and diplomacy at Gyeongnam University, who saw Kim’s Facebook post, criticized, "He was fired because he was unfit as a spokesperson of a public party, yet he says he will fly freely like a zebra. What a delusion of freedom." He added, "I hope he stops acting like a 'wild colt with loosened reins' and reflects and keeps a low profile."
