The Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency and the National Health Insurance Service, along with five other specialized institutions under the Ministry of Health and Welfare, announced on the 28th that starting next year, they will promote the K-Health overseas expansion support project to systematically advance domestic healthcare into countries such as ASEAN, Africa, and Latin America. This initiative is expected to also strengthen the overseas expansion of Korean medical device companies.
On the same day at 10 a.m., the Ministry of Health and Welfare explained this plan at the launch ceremony of the 'K-Health Overseas Expansion Support Project Task Force' held at L Tower in Seocho-gu, Seoul.
The seven specialized institutions participating in this project plan to carry out various cooperative projects with middle- and low-income developing countries from 2024 to 2027, focusing on their strengths in health insurance, infectious disease response, medical informatization, digital health, and the health industry.
To this end, starting in 2024, the Ministry of Health and Welfare has expanded and reorganized the Korea-ASEAN healthcare cooperation project into the K-Health overseas expansion support project to systematically support the overseas advancement of healthcare systems and institutions.
At the launch ceremony, the Ministry of Health and Welfare will present the future direction of this project, and the participating institutions of the task force will each announce their respective cooperative projects. Professor Oh Joo-hwan of Seoul National University is scheduled to propose policy directions related to Korea's healthcare overseas expansion support project.
