Changnyeong County Governor By-election Polling Stations Confirmed ... 52,427 Voters to Cast Ballots

Polling Stations Mostly the Same as Last June's Local Elections

The Gyeongnam Election Commission has confirmed 14 early voting stations and 20 polling stations for the by-election of Changnyeong County Governor and Gyeongnam Provincial Council member for Changnyeong County District 1, scheduled for April 5.

The Gyeongnam Election Commission announced that the number of confirmed voters for this election is 52,427, and voting guide letters and candidates' election brochures have been sent to each voter's household.

According to the provincial election commission, voters can check candidates' pledges and information on assets, military service, tax payment, and criminal records through the election brochures sent to their homes.

The enclosed voting guide letter includes the voter's name, voter registration number, and polling location.

For the 235 absentee voters who reported, election brochures and absentee ballots were sent together.

The recipients must mark the ballot paper with a pen or similar writing instrument and place it in the return envelope, which must arrive at the Changnyeong County Election Commission by election day, April 5.

An election commission official urged voters to submit it to the post office or drop it in a mailbox by April 4 at the latest.

The registered mail fee for sending absentee ballots is free of charge.

Anyone can check candidates' pledge materials such as election brochures on the Central Election Commission's Policy and Pledge Plaza website, and information disclosure materials on candidates' assets and military service are also available on the Central Election Commission's website.

The provincial election commission has arranged polling stations on the first floor or in locations equipped with elevators to ensure accessibility for voters with mobility challenges such as the disabled, elderly, and pregnant women.

To avoid inconvenience for voters finding polling stations, most polling stations from the previous 8th local elections will be used as they are.

For locations where polling stations have been inevitably changed due to work at schools or public institutions or due to limited space improvements, banners will be posted at the polling station entrances to guide voters to the new locations.

The early voting period for this by-election is from March 31 to April 1.

Early voting can be done at any early voting station in the region, but on election day, April 5, voters must vote at their designated polling stations.

Voters can check their polling station using the voting guide letter delivered to their homes or by using the ‘Find My Polling Station’ service on the Central Election Commission website.

When going to the polling station, voters must bring their ID, and knowing the voter registration number listed on the voting guide letter will make voting more convenient.

An official from the provincial election commission said, “Please carefully review the election brochures and be sure to confirm your designated polling station before participating in the vote.”
