Incheon City Provides Seamless Childcare Services... Emergency and Holiday Care Centers and Community Care Operation

Investing 300 Billion Won to Implement 23 Detailed Projects by 2026

Incheon City is strengthening uninterrupted child care services by establishing emergency and holiday care centers by district and county, and creating village care communities.

The city announced on the 28th that it has prepared a "Basic Plan for Child Care" to be implemented from this year until 2026, containing these details.

This is the first mid- to long-term plan under the "Incheon City Child Care Support Ordinance," and it plans to invest 303.1 billion KRW over four years to carry out 23 detailed projects.

To enhance child care during nighttime and holidays, the city plans to newly establish one hub-type nighttime care center and one emergency and holiday care center in each district and county by 2026.

A new program will also be operated where on-site teachers visit care institutions directly to help children with slower learning develop cognitive learning abilities. Additionally, through public contests, village care communities will be formed consisting of 5 to 6 children receiving care and 2 to 3 care providers.

In response to diverse care needs such as dual-income families, a new support project dispatching "Tteumsae Dolbomi" (gap-filling caregivers) will be launched, and a service to take sick children to the hospital and hand them over to guardians will also be implemented.

The "Incheon-type Child Care Mobile Service," which supports various child care linked with senior job programs and community gatherings, and the "Village Playground Creation Project," which provides care, play, and experience spaces within the local community, will also be promoted.

Along with this, the currently 28 "Together Care Centers" will be expanded by an additional 44 centers by 2026, and the support hours for the child care service will be increased from 840 hours to 960 hours annually.

An official from Incheon City stated, "As social demand for child care continues to increase, we have prepared policy directions and strategies reflecting voices from the field. We will faithfully implement the established basic plan so that children can grow up healthily with uninterrupted care."
