Wando-gun Wins Administrative Evaluation for Eup, Myeon, and Dong for 4 Consecutive Years

Operation of Welfare Mobile Unit, Highly Praised for Practicing Neighborly Love Project

Gogeum-myeon, Wando-gun, Jeollanam-do received an Excellence Award in the ‘2022 Field Administration Outstanding Eup, Myeon, and Dong’ evaluation hosted by Jeollanam-do on the 23rd.

According to the county on the 28th, the field administration evaluation for eup, myeon, and dong has been conducted since 2016 targeting 297 eup, myeon, and dong within Jeollanam-do to share and spread excellent cases aimed at resolving administrative blind spots such as cultural heritage, tourist facilities, welfare, and living environment.

The evaluation criteria include whether the case has distinctiveness compared to other excellent cases, effectiveness, connectivity, and potential for dissemination. After selecting 10 eup, myeon, and dong in the first round of document screening, the second round involved presentations.

Gogeum-myeon was highly evaluated for its efforts to strengthen autonomous capabilities by cooperating to solve local problems through connections between administration, residents, and related organizations, and for leading the establishment of an administrative system through resident participation.

In particular, neighborly love practice programs such as the red pepper paste making project for neighbors in need, laundry service for vulnerable households, screen replacement project, and operation of the “Our Neighborhood Problem Solver” welfare mobile unit received great responses.

Additionally, efforts to eliminate welfare blind spots through meticulous administration, including demolition of abandoned houses for resident safety, installation of stepping stairs for elderly living alone, and publication of the Gogeum-myeon weekly newsletter, were also recognized.

Meanwhile, with this award, the county achieved the distinction of winning the Jeollanam-do hosted Field Administration Outstanding Eup, Myeon, and Dong evaluation for four consecutive years.

In 2019, Gogeum-myeon received a Encouragement Award, in 2020, Geumil-eup received an Excellence Award, and in 2021, Wando-eup received an Excellence Award.

Cheon Jong-sil, head of the Administrative Support Division, said, “The reason we have been able to receive good evaluations for four consecutive years is thanks to the community spirit and activities led by residents and social organizations to proactively solve local problems.” He added, “We will continue to discover and share excellent field administration cases to strengthen autonomous capabilities.”
