Gongju's Sixteen Projects Including 'Yutnori Promotion and Festival'
On the 28th, the Cultural Heritage Administration announced that sixteen projects, including 'Traditional Yutnori Promotion and Festival' and 'Master Archer, Perfect Shot,' have been selected as support targets for the activation of national intangible cultural heritage transmission communities this year. Transmission communities refer to communities that share intangible cultural heritage regionally and historically without recognizing individual holders or holder groups. They voluntarily realize, enjoy, and transmit intangible cultural heritage.
The Cultural Heritage Administration will foster these communities and strengthen the preservation and transmission of intangible heritage by launching support projects for the first time this year. Each project will receive up to 200 million KRW, including 100 million KRW from the national government and 100 million KRW from local governments. A Cultural Heritage Administration official explained, "The respective local governments will carry out documentation and listing projects, education, and experience programs tailored to the characteristics of each category."
The selected projects include 'Traditional Yutnori Promotion and Festival' in Gongju-si, Chungnam; 'Master Archer, Perfect Shot' in Tongyeong-si, Gyeongnam; 'Boseong Obongsan Gudlejang Quarry Ondol Festival' in Boseong-gun, Jeonnam; 'Activation of Gangjin Wolchulsan Tea Culture Transmission Community and Dissemination of the Value of Tea-making Intangible Heritage' in Gangjin-gun, Jeonnam; 'Let's Sing Our Arirang Together' in Jindo-gun, Jeonnam; 'Compilation of the Encyclopedia of Jeju Haenyeo Culture' in Jeju Special Self-Governing Province; 'Establishment of the Identity of Traditional Tea-making and Sustainable Traditional Tea Culture Transmission Education Based on Traditional Wild Tea Gardens' in Gokseong-gun, Jeonnam; 'Our Yutnori Generation Transmission Project' in Jeonju-si, Jeonbuk; 'Tracing the 200-year History of Haenyeo in Geoje-si, Gyeongnam'; 'Academic Survey of Haenyeo Culture in Pohang-si, Gyeongbuk'; 'National Intangible Cultural Heritage Transmission Community Activation Support Project Ssireum' in Gumi-si, Gyeongbuk; 'Development and Implementation of Arirang Transmission Experience Program' in Jeongseon-gun, Gangwon; 'Traditional Judicial Archery Activation Project' in Dongducheon-si, Gyeonggi; and 'Seoul Archery Transmission Community Activation' in Jongno-gu, Seoul.
