As of midnight on the 28th, the Central Disease Control Headquarters reported 12,129 new confirmed COVID-19 cases, bringing the total to 30,785,589.
The number of new cases increased by 7,925 from the previous day (4,204), which was lower due to weekend testing. Compared to a week ago on the 21st (12,013 cases), there was an increase of 116 cases.
The number of confirmed cases has been rising for eight consecutive days since the 21st.
The number of critically ill patients currently hospitalized decreased by 2 to 151 compared to the previous day.
There were 8 new COVID-19 related deaths, bringing the total death toll to 34,231 (fatality rate 0.11%).
Meanwhile, the government plans to announce at the Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters meeting on the 29th a plan to shorten the mandatory 7-day isolation period for confirmed COVID-19 cases to 5 days, prior to adjusting the COVID-19 crisis level, in response to the stabilization of the situation.
