Kakao Brain announced on the 28th that it has added an ‘AI Profile’ service to ‘B^ DISCOVER,’ an image creation and sharing platform based on the image generation AI model ‘Karlo.’
The AI Profile service generates various profile images using AI based on an image specified by the user. In the B^ DISCOVER app, users select their age and gender, upload a single photo file, and then click the ‘Generate’ button. Within about one minute, the AI creates 100 profile images in various concepts such as ▲Fantasy ▲Timeslip ▲Daily based on the uploaded image and user information.
If users want to see new images beyond the generated 100, additional generation is also possible. By clicking the ‘Additional Generation’ button, users can view 20 new images per session, up to two times. This means a total of 140 AI profile images can be created from a single input image. Most notably, the AI not only generates facial images but also draws backgrounds that fit each concept.
Users can freely download and share the generated AI profile images and use them as social network service (SNS) profile pictures. The AI Profile service costs 6,600 KRW per case. Created profile images are stored in the B^ DISCOVER app for one year after payment.
Along with the launch of the ‘AI Profile’ service, Kakao Brain updated the platform to allow image generation by inputting prompts in Korean. In the first half of this year, it plans to introduce an ‘AI Motion Service’ that adds users’ voices and motions to the generated AI profile images to create videos.
Since its launch in October last year, the cumulative number of images generated on B^ DISCOVER surpassed 11 million in early March. In the past month, the average app usage time per user was recorded at 27 minutes and 6 seconds.
Kim Il-du, CEO of Kakao Brain, said, “We introduced the AI Profile service in line with the trend of people being proactive in expressing themselves and valuing their individuality,” adding, “We will continuously improve the B^ DISCOVER service and its features by understanding diverse user needs.”
