Gyeonggi-do to Invest 4 Billion Won in Building Electric Vehicle Charging Infrastructure

Gyeonggi-do to Invest 4 Billion Won in Building Electric Vehicle Charging Infrastructure Gyeonggi Provincial Government Gwanggyo New Office Building

Gyeonggi Province will invest 4 billion KRW this year to establish electric vehicle charging infrastructure at public facilities and public use facilities.

Earlier in January, the province received preliminary applications for public electric vehicle chargers from 31 cities and counties within the province. After conducting on-site inspections of the applied areas, the province plans to install approximately 159 chargers in suitable locations.

The installation sites for electric vehicle chargers will prioritize public facilities. Subsequently, the installation will be expanded to charging-vulnerable areas such as rural and urban-rural mixed regions.

In particular, to ensure convenience for transportation-vulnerable groups such as the disabled and the elderly, LCD monitors and connector heights will be installed lower than those of general chargers.

Separately, the province will select three private charging operators through the Gyeonggi Environment and Energy Promotion Institute to establish electric vehicle charging infrastructure.

The selected operators will receive subsidies covering 50% of the charger installation costs. The subsidy amounts are 25 million KRW for 100kW (single), 27.5 million KRW for 100kW (dual), 39.5 million KRW for 200kW (single), and 42.5 million KRW for 200kW (dual) chargers.

Interested operators can apply by visiting the Environmental Industry Support Headquarters of the Gyeonggi Environment and Energy Promotion Institute on April 3rd and 4th.

Jung Han-gyu, Director of the Advanced Mobility Industry Division of the province, stated, "In line with the accelerating trend of electric vehicle adoption, we will establish electric vehicle charging infrastructure to enhance charging convenience for residents and work to resolve user inconveniences."
