Gyeonggi Province will continue to promote the 'Gyeonggi Youth Job Matchup' this year, which connects local youth with excellent small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and supports their transition to full-time employment.
The Gyeonggi Job Foundation announced that it will recruit applicants for this project targeting job seekers aged 18 to 39 in the province through the online job matching platform 'Job Korea' from the 28th of this month until the 12th of next month.
This project, initiated by Gyeonggi Province in 2021, aims to resolve job mismatches between unemployed youth and SMEs facing recruitment difficulties within the province, thereby increasing youth employment rates.
Youth job seekers work for three months (gaining work experience) at the matched companies, and based on each company's internal evaluation, the personnel may be hired as full-time employees.
The province supports the labor costs at the level of the Gyeonggi living wage (2.4 million KRW) out of the three-month wages that companies must bear. Additionally, capacity-building programs such as basic education on business manners and workplace etiquette, workplace adaptation consulting, and customized job training using the Jobaba Learning Center are provided to the connected youth.
This year, the province plans to recruit about 3,000 people in three rounds and ultimately support 75 individuals to become full-time employees.
An Chi-gwon, Director of the Job and Economic Policy Division of the province, said, "This year, we actively reflected the voices from the field gathered during the project implementation process to further enhance the project's completeness. We will continue to spare no interest and support so that the Matchup project can grow into a representative job project of Gyeonggi Province and enable mutual growth for both youth and companies."
Meanwhile, a total of 108 youth were connected through this project last year.
