Standing Ovation for 'Brexit Dance' New York City Premiere, Successfully Concluded

Beresit Dance Company, acclaimed by critics for its original choreography that harmonizes Korean tradition and modernity, successfully concluded its premiere in Manhattan, New York, to a standing ovation from the audience.

According to the Korean Cultural Center in New York on the 27th (local time), the Beresit Dance Company, led by choreographer Park Sun-ho, held a highly successful performance titled 'Beresit Dance Company' on the 24th and 25th at New York University's Skirball Center, co-hosted by NYU.

The company's signature piece showcased in this performance, ‘人_Harmony and Imbalance,’ is characterized by expressing the principle of complementarity through the constant opposition and harmony between sound and gesture, the most universal means of emotional expression. Based on the pansori 'Sugungga,' six dancers and three traditional Korean music ensemble members participated in this performance. Some key pansori lyrics were delivered in English words to help the local audience understand.

Another work, ‘Yudo,’ conveyed through dance the ambivalent rhythm of balance revealed between one of human instincts, aggression, and the rules of sports. It is a piece intended to show social attributes manifested in competition and cooperation, conflict and harmony. The audience of about 800 people (over two days) who filled the NYU Skirball Center gave a standing ovation and cheers after the performance.
