Jeong Hwang-geun "Opening Export Channels for Agricultural Food through Green Bio Activation"

'Green Bio Industry Development Council' Launched
Public-Private Council to Strengthen Links Between Agriculture and Green Bio Companies
Launched on the 27th at Seoul National University Pyeongchang Campus

The Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs launched the Green Bio Council on the 27th, with participation from local governments, companies, and others. Through this, they plan to strengthen collaboration among local governments for fostering the green bio industry and establish institutional measures.

On the same day, the Ministry held the inauguration ceremony for the 'Green Bio Industry Development Council' at Seoul National University Pyeongchang Campus. The council includes various stakeholders such as companies, government ministries, related organizations, and local governments to quickly resolve current issues in the green bio industry, actively promote regulatory improvements, information sharing, and inter-agency cooperation.

At the inauguration, Minister Jeong Hwang-geun of the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, who serves as the chairman, attended along with Kim Jin-tae, Governor of Gangwon Province, and Kim Kwan-young, Governor of Jeonbuk Province. Vice mayors and vice governors from five local governments (Daejeon, Chungbuk, Gyeongbuk, Gyeongnam, Jeju), government ministries, heads of related organizations, academia, and relevant industries also participated.

Along with the inauguration, the Ministry signed a business agreement among seven cities and provinces to develop the green bio industry. Each institution pledged mutual cooperation to strengthen the linkage between agriculture and green bio companies, promote export activation projects, and increase farmers' income and the industrialization of agriculture as a future growth industry.

At the event, exhibitions of excellent cases in the green bio field by region were held, introducing examples of win-win cases between companies and farms using natural materials, such as Daehak Duyu, a microbial feed additive export model (EcoBizNet), and livestock disease prevention cases using plant vaccines (BioApp).

Minister Jeong visited the production factory of Daehak Duyu, one of the excellent cases, and examined the manufacturing process of green bio products through the materialization of Gangwon Province’s medicinal beans. He then met with company and crop group representatives to directly confirm the win-win cases between companies and farms mediated by green bio. Daehak Duyu established a factory on the Seoul National University Pyeongchang Campus site and formed a direct crop group with 113 local farms, successfully commercializing functional products and achieving mass production.

Minister Jeong said, "With the activation of the green bio industry, the scope of the agriculture and food industry will expand, and new export routes will be pioneered," adding, "We will spare no support for fostering the industry and spreading excellent performance cases."
