Gyeongnam Province, Protecting Residents' Lives and Safety with Strong Security!

2023 Gyeongnam Province Integrated Defense Meeting Held

An integrated defense meeting to establish a comprehensive security posture in Gyeongnam Province was held on the 27th.

According to the province, the 2023 Integrated Defense Meeting, held in the large conference room of the provincial government office under the chairmanship of the governor, was attended by about 150 people including members of the Integrated Defense Council, military and police commanders, deputy heads of cities and counties, reserve force commanders, and managers of nationally important facilities.

Considering the security situation such as North Korea's continuous missile provocations, cyber attacks, and various terrorist threats, presentations were made by each agency on the outlook of North Korea's threats to the South, the 2023 Gyeongsangnam-do integrated defense operation plan, military preparedness evaluation, and directions.

▲ Measures to protect residents against North Korean nuclear weapons, weapons of mass destruction, missile threats, and high-intensity provocations ▲ Discussions on preparedness and capacity enhancement against terrorism and cyber threats followed.

Governor Park Wan-su said, “With recent large-scale wildfires and regional festivals held for the first time in four years, the importance of organic cooperation among local governments and civil-military-police-fire agencies is increasing,” adding, “To protect the lives and safety of residents, we will strengthen emergency preparedness and accurately recognize the security situation, and work with related agencies to establish a security system.”

The Integrated Defense Local Meeting is held annually to share key agendas presented by the Central Integrated Defense Meeting, evaluate the integrated defense achievements of the previous year, and present the integrated defense operation plan for the current year, thereby establishing a comprehensive security posture for Gyeongnam Province.
