Strategic Planning Committee Chair Han Byung-do: "I Will Create a Path to Victory in the General Election"

"Nobody Adding More Matters"
"Will Create a Concrete Action Program"

Han Byung-do, a member of the Democratic Party of Korea appointed as the Chair of the Strategic Planning Committee, evaluated the party reshuffle announced on the 27th as a "meaningful personnel appointment." He stated that, as the Chair of the Strategic Planning Committee, he will establish a nomination system that enables the Democratic Party to win in next year's general election.

On the 27th, Han met with reporters at the National Assembly Members' Office Building and said, "I believe that coming together without distinguishing between pro-Moon and non-Moon factions to unify is the path to victory in the general election, and that lawmakers should pool their wisdom well and devise a good strategy."

He served as Senior Secretary for Political Affairs and Special Envoy for Foreign Affairs under the Moon Jae-in administration and is classified as part of the pro-Moon (pro-Moon Jae-in) faction within the party. Regarding criticisms from some party quarters that the voices of the non-Moon faction were less reflected in this party reshuffle, he said, "Whether the Secretary-General or a few others are changed may have some significance, but I do not think that adding or subtracting one person will change the path to victory in the general election. The newly appointed people have diverse thoughts, so it is a process of conveying various ideas well to the leader and unifying them toward the path of winning the general election."

Earlier that day, the Democratic Party carried out a party reshuffle replacing appointed Supreme Council members and the Chair of the Policy Committee. The party leadership stated that they considered 'integration, balance, and stability' in this appointment, promoting figures from the pro-Moon faction, Honam region, and non-Myeong factions (non-Lee Jae-myung faction).

Regarding the role of the Chair of the Strategic Planning Committee, Han said, "I have experience in the government, the ruling party, and as a senior official of the ruling party. I want to gather opinions well for victory in the general election, unify them, and create a path to winning the election."

At the meeting with reporters, he explained, "I will show how the general election will be conducted through a fair system and concretize it. If we focus on creating specific action programs that the Democratic Party intends to undertake, such as debates, trust will be built." He also previewed, "The Strategic Planning Committee will actively produce content."
