The Jeju Regional Coast Guard Agency (Chief Kim Inchang) announced on the 27th that it recently visited major ports and harbors in Jeju and Seogwipo, as well as local fishing boat owners' associations, to conduct a "Visiting Maritime Traffic Safety Promotion Campaign" aimed at preventing maritime accidents in the Jeju waters targeting fishing boat owners and vessel operators.
This promotional activity was organized to have maritime police vessel traffic controllers visit the sites directly to raise safety awareness among fishing boat owners, captains, and crew members, proactively prevent accidents such as collisions between fishing boats and merchant ships, and spread a culture of maritime safety.

On the morning of the 24th, starting at 10 a.m., visits were made to four ports?Jeju Port, Hallim Port, Moseulpo Port, and Seogwipo Port?as well as the Jeju Fishing Boat Owners' Association and the fisheries cooperatives of Jeju and Seogwipo, where banners promoting maritime safety awareness were also installed.
The Jeju Coast Guard distributed items and leaflets bearing maritime accident prevention slogans to fishing boat owners, captains, and crew members, urging them to make vessel inspections a routine practice, always monitor VHF radio, prohibit operating vessels under the influence of alcohol, operate safely, and refrain from sailing during adverse weather conditions.
Bu Ji-woon, Director of the Jeju Port Maritime Traffic Control Center, stated, “We will continue to actively promote the visiting maritime traffic safety campaign and serve as a guide responsible for the safety of vessels, striving to create a safe Jeju sea.”
