Sonata The Edge... Displayed at Seoul Mobility Show on the 30th
Hyundai Motor Company unveiled the design of the facelifted model of its flagship mid-size sedan, the Sonata, called the ‘Sonata The Edge’ on the 27th. The company plans to exhibit this model at the ‘2023 Seoul Mobility Show’ held at KINTEX in Goyang, Gyeonggi Province, on the 30th.
Introduced four years after its initial launch in March 2019, this model was created based on Hyundai’s design identity, ‘Sensuous Sportiness’.
First, the exterior features the ‘Straight Eyebrow’ design applied to Hyundai’s Staria, Grandeur, and Kona. The DRL (Daytime Running Lights) is designed with a seamless horizon lamp (horizontal lamp) that spans the body horizontally. The front combines the headlamps, radiator grille, and air intake into a unified design.
The side emphasizes dynamism. The front end starts low and the long hood flows into a sleek roofline reminiscent of a fastback.
The rear has a dynamic impression with a sleek rear spoiler-shaped garnish. The ‘H Light,’ a horizontal lamp in the shape of an H, highlights a futuristic image together with the horizontal lamp at the front.
Inside, the model is the first to feature a ‘Panoramic Curved Display,’ which connects a 12.3-inch digital cluster and an infotainment system display in a curved form.
For the N Line model, additional features include an enlarged front bumper grille, 19-inch exclusive wheels, a rear spoiler, and dual twin-tip mufflers on top of the base model.
A Hyundai Motor Company official said, “The completely redesigned and sportier Sonata The Edge will assert a definite presence in the market as a contemporary sedan,” adding, “We plan to reveal the improved product competitiveness that matches the completely new design at a future new car launch event, so please look forward to it.”
