IDIS Acquires US Video Security Company Costa Technology

Global video security specialist IDIS announced on the 27th that it acquired the US video security company Costar Technologies, Inc. on the 24th.

Costar Technologies is a video security company established in the United States in 1997. It has built a network with over 100 dealers and more than 1,000 information system integrators (SI) in the US, securing top global blue-chip customers such as Apple, Google, Walmart, Microsoft, and Citibank. It owns four subsidiaries, and as of 2021, its revenue was $53 million (approximately 68.8 billion KRW).

Among them, Costar Video Systems supplies video management software (VMS), surveillance cameras, network video recorders (NVR), and digital video recorders (DVR). CostarHD possesses video security technology optimized for critical security facility control such as border security, transportation, ports, airports, and railroads. AVCostar is a pioneer in the megapixel security surveillance camera market, boasting outstanding technology, while Innotech provides specialized solutions for small to medium-sized retail stores.

IDIS has built a long-standing business relationship with Costar Technologies since 2003 by supplying video products in an original design manufacturer (ODM) format. Through this acquisition, IDIS plans to pursue growth by expanding sales bases in the North American region and also explore product supply based on North American manufacturing.

Youngdal Kim, CEO of IDIS, stated, "We plan to utilize the already established distribution network and channels in the US to expand sales targeting existing SIs, and especially diversify business in areas where market participation was limited, such as government-specialized markets and transportation (ITS) markets, using this as a stepping stone to expand not only in the US but also in the global market."
