Pohang City will hold the 'Pohang Future Forest Tree Planting Event' around Inju Intersection at Yeonil-eup Community Center from 2:40 PM on the 31st in celebration of the 78th Arbor Day.
The Pohang Future Forest Tree Planting Event was organized to increase citizen participation in tree planting and to create a sustainable green ecological city in Pohang with a promising future.
Citizens participating in the event will plant about 5,000 trees, including Japanese cheesewood, cornelian cherry, crape myrtle, and azalea, along approximately a 1.3 km stretch of roadside to create a dense street forest.
Before the tree planting event, pre-event performances will be presented by the Yeonil-eup Pungmul Troupe, a youth hip-hop club, and a kindergarten choir. Seedlings such as persimmon and peach trees, as well as spring flowers, will be distributed free of charge to participating citizens, and the '20 Million Trees Life Tree Planting Campaign' will be promoted.
Citizens who wish to participate in the tree planting event can visit the event site on the day dressed in casual clothes and sneakers.
Kim Eung-su, head of the City Green City Project Group, said, "On the occasion of Arbor Day, we hope many citizens will participate in this meaningful time to directly plant and nurture trees."
