The Shinan Floating Offshore Wind Industry Association is composed of five power generation companies including the chairman company OW Korea Co., Ltd., five general companies, and Shinan-gun.
The association was formed to promote the floating offshore wind power industry by securing acceptance from residents and fishermen and establishing a cooperative system for grid connection in line with the promotion of the Heuksan area floating offshore wind power project.
Governor Park Woo-ryang said, “Shinan, which has a vast sea area 22 times the size of Seoul, is an optimal location for offshore wind power due to its excellent wind speed and direction quality. In addition to 8.2GW of fixed offshore wind power, the floating offshore wind power potential is estimated at 10GW. We will succeed in the Shinan offshore wind power project, the world’s largest power generation complex, and leap forward as a mecca of renewable energy.”
Meanwhile, Shinan-gun is contributing to residents' income through the realization of a renewable energy development profit-sharing system. On the 2nd, it became the first fishermen’s organization nationwide to issue a statement urging the promotion of offshore wind power, making multifaceted efforts to secure residents' acceptance of renewable energy.
