The city of Suwon in Gyeonggi Province has pledged to practice carbon neutrality and reduce the use of disposable products.
On the 27th, Suwon City announced that Mayor Lee Jae-jun and senior officials of grade 4 and above signed a pledge to practice carbon neutrality in the mayor's office.
On this day, public officials pledged to ▲ minimize the use of disposable products and plastics ▲ walk or use public transportation for short distances ▲ properly separate and recycle waste ▲ inform those around them about practicing carbon neutrality.
Carbon neutrality means balancing the amount of carbon emitted with measures that increase carbon dioxide absorption, effectively reducing net carbon emissions to '0'.
Since the 15th, the city has been conducting a "Disposable Products Reduction Relay Campaign," starting with Suwon City Hall and Yeongtong District Office. Over two months, the campaign will expand to four district offices, business sites, and public institutions to promote reducing disposable product use.
A city official stated, "All public officials will participate in reducing disposable products and take the lead in creating a 'Clean Special City of Life.' We hope this movement will resonate with citizens and spread to the private sector."
