The ‘2023 Cheongsando Slow Walking Festival’ will be held for a total of 30 days from April 8 to May 7 on Cheongsando Island in Wando, the first Slow City designated in Asia.
According to Wando County on the 27th, this festival will be held under the theme ‘Spring Spring Spring, Come to the Healing Garden Cheongsando.’
The main festival programs include △ Cheongsanwanbo Stamp Tour △ Plogging Campaign △ Milky Way Tour Bus △ Cheongsan Jinseong Night Walk △ Sending Snail Postcards, and more.
‘Cheongsanwanbo’ consists of an event where participants walk at least 4 out of 11 Slow Road courses on Cheongsando and collect stamps to receive prizes, as well as the ‘Cheongsan Jinseong Night Walk’ to enjoy the night sky of Cheongsando.
Additionally, there is the ‘Milky Way Tour,’ where participants explore various parts of Cheongsando with local resident guides on a night tour bus; the ‘Sending Snail Postcards’ program, where postcards sent will arrive one year later; ‘Picnic Set Rental’ to enjoy spring amid the blooming canola flowers on Cheongsando; and the ‘Plogging Campaign,’ which exchanges collected trash for eco-friendly products such as soap.
On the opening day, April 15, when the canola flowers are in full bloom, events such as butterfly releasing, a healing concert, and walking with notable figures will be held under the theme ‘Butterfly, Let’s Go to Cheongsando.’
To successfully hold the festival, the county held a planning report meeting on the 21st attended by the county governor and heads of departments.
At the meeting, department-specific plans for festival operation were reviewed, and issues and countermeasures were discussed.
A county official said, “This spring, we hope you come to Cheongsando, an island where the mountains, sea, and sky are all blue, to enjoy the leisure of slowness amid your busy daily life and to heal.”
