On the 27th, the People Power Party will embark on field activities aimed at reflecting public opinion to support the government's policy capabilities. This is interpreted as a determination to overcome the declining approval ratings caused by policies disconnected from the livelihood of the people.

Kim Gi-hyeon, leader of the People Power Party, said at the Supreme Council meeting held that day, "We will activate the role of the Policy Committee to ensure closer policy consultations between the party and the government," and urged, "Lawmakers should actively participate in the standing committee party-government consultations."

He cited last week's first livelihood activity as an example, when they visited the Integrated Support Center for Low-income Financial Services and held a meeting, saying, "We requested a re-examination of low-income financial products and a proactive increase in the budget size." He added, "Since then, last Friday, during the first four days of the low-income, low-credit livelihood loan, more applicants than expected applied, and the quota was filled within a few hours on the first day of application." The visit included then-Policy Committee Chairman Seong Il-jong, ruling party secretary of the Political Affairs Committee Yoon Han-hong, as well as Kim Ju-hyun, Chairman of the Financial Services Commission, and Lee Jae-yeon, President of the Korea Inclusive Finance Agency.

Leader Kim emphasized that the party's Policy Committee should seek ways to respond to the government in this manner. The main background appears to be the recent public backlash over policies such as the 'maximum 69-hour workweek' and the failure of low birthrate-related measures to gain public sympathy. Kim said, "Tomorrow, I will visit Kyung Hee University, where the breakfast project is underway, to discuss ways to expand government support," adding, "We will strengthen our party's policy capabilities."

Recently, the People Power Party has set a policy to strengthen its policy functions by newly electing a Policy Committee Chairman and restoring the Policy Coordination Committee under the Policy Committee. Kim said, "The ruling party should do politics through work, not words," and added, "We must produce results that improve people's livelihoods and show hope for the future. To do so, we will strengthen policy capabilities and lead the process of drafting and implementing policies that reflect public opinion in detail."

He continued, "We will review the system so that those who work hard in legislative activities can receive appropriate evaluations," adding, "A society where hardworking people are respected is a fair society."
