Samsung Heavy Industries announced on the 27th that it has developed an AI-based chatbot called 'SBOT' and is applying it to ship design.
SBOT analyzes the meaning when users ask questions in natural language and retrieves accumulated design know-how, various regulations, contract information, and more from internal systems to provide the optimal answers users want. Even new employees or beginners can perform tasks quickly and accurately, and the knowledge search function maximizes the utilization of design information.
In addition, SBOT has automation features that allow repetitive tasks to be easily handled with simple commands. It helps design personnel reduce simple repetitive tasks such as drawing searches, schedule management, and document issuance, enabling them to focus on important work.
Samsung Heavy Industries plans to enhance the functions to support mobile usage environments and voice recognition features to strengthen support for production site tasks and expand its application areas to management support, procurement, and more. In particular, it plans to advance the chatbot service by linking ChatGPT with SBOT.
A Samsung Heavy Industries official said, "The goal of Samsung Heavy Industries' smart innovation is an intelligent smart shipyard based on AI and big data," adding, "We aim to smartify all areas of work including design, production, procurement, and support."
