100,000 Visitors from January to February This Year
Recently, the number of foreign customers visiting Hyundai Premium Outlets (Gimpo Branch, Songdo Branch, Space One) has significantly increased.
According to Hyundai Department Store on the 27th, the number of foreign visitors to the metropolitan area Hyundai Premium Outlets from January to February this year recorded a historic high of 100,000, which is six times more than last year. This is about a 15% increase compared to the same period in 2019, before the COVID-19 pandemic.
Group tourists from Asian countries such as Hong Kong, Japan, Thailand, and Vietnam continue to visit. On the 21st, about 350 Thai group tourists visited Hyundai Premium Outlet Gimpo Branch to enjoy shopping and sightseeing, and on the 7th of next month, foreign tourists visiting Korea via the recently resumed cruise service at Incheon Port are scheduled to visit Hyundai Premium Outlet Songdo Branch.
Various photo spots are also popular. The Gimpo Branch operates a 450-meter-long waterfront park, the Songdo Branch has a carousel and fountain installed, and Space One features MOCA Garden, a storytelling-type cultural and artistic space designed in collaboration with world-renowned designer Jaime Hayon.
Hyundai Department Store is expanding service facilities at the premium outlets to enhance shopping convenience for foreign tourists. The Songdo Branch has installed kiosks in cooperation with the Incheon Tourism Organization where visitors can check surrounding tourist information and exchange rates, and the Gimpo Branch is considering installing a lounge exclusively for foreign customers.
A Hyundai Department Store official said, “Hyundai Premium Outlets will be developed into a tourist attraction with various enjoyable experiences such as performances and gourmet dining, beyond just a shopping space.”
