Seongnam City in Gyeonggi Province will add two more 'Bandi Bus' routes operating during late night and early morning hours, bringing the total to five routes.
Seongnam City announced on the 27th that it will launch Bandi Bus routes 3 and 4 as part of the semi-public bus system on the 3rd of next month. The operating hours are from 11 PM to 4:40 AM the following day.
Bandi route 3 operates a 13.4 km round trip in the Jungwon area, covering Sagimakgol~Seongnam High-Tech Valley~Sangdaewon 1-dong~Hadaewon-dong~Jungwon District Office~Moran Station.
Bandi route 4 mainly serves the Pangyo area, running a 19.2 km round trip covering Pangyo Daejang District~Unjung-dong~Pangyo Station~Seohyeon Station.
The city will deploy a total of six buses, three for each of the two new routes. Enhancing the feeder function to facilitate local mobility, all buses will stop at every bus stop, with intervals of 20 to 30 minutes between buses.
The three existing Bandi Bus routes currently in operation are route 1 (Ori Station↔Bokjeong Station), route 1-1 (Ori Station↔Wirye New Town), and route 2 (Ori Station↔Namhansanseong Entrance), all launched in July 2019.
These long-distance trunk routes replace rail services during late-night hours when the subway is not operating, stopping only at major city hubs and subway stations.
The fare for the Bandi Bus is 2,800 KRW for adults paying by card, which is the same as the fare for metropolitan buses.
A city official explained, "We expanded the Bandi Bus service in connection with the government's lifting of the taxi operation restrictions (mandatory rest days) and policies to increase late-night public transportation supply. We will continue to expand the semi-public bus system (28 routes, 20 billion KRW) that compensates for losses on routes serving transportation-disadvantaged areas or those with worsening deficits, ensuring that citizens do not experience inconvenience in using public transportation in terms of time and space."
