'Financial Education for Youth and Elderly on the Go'... Gyeonggi-do, from the 27th until the End of the Year

Gyeonggi Province is conducting a 'Visiting Financial Education' program this year as well as last year to enhance the financial knowledge of youth and the elderly.

The province announced that from the 27th of this month until the end of the year, it will accept applications for customized financial and credit education visits and online sessions covering basic financial knowledge for youth and financial fraud prevention methods for the elderly.

The province has been running this project since last year, becoming the first local government in the country to promote rational consumption, saving, debt management, credit management, and financial fraud prevention among youth.

This year, the province expanded its educational institutions from just one, the Credit Recovery Committee, to include the Korea Inclusive Finance Agency.

The Korea Inclusive Finance Agency provides education using the game 'Kkum-i Money' for youth to teach basic financial knowledge and career exploration; supports economic independence for young adults through a metaverse (extended virtual world) financial world; and educates the elderly on financial fraud prevention using a game book.

The Credit Recovery Committee offers experiential teaching materials using educational videos and board games for elementary school students, teaches local children's centers how to keep allowance ledgers, and provides education on gift and inheritance systems and digital finance for the elderly.

Kim Neungsik, Director of Welfare at the province, emphasized, "In a situation where cases of extreme choices due to debt problems and illegal financial damage caused by high-interest trends are rapidly increasing, financial education for residents, especially low-income and low-credit vulnerable groups, is more urgent than ever. This year, we will actively promote and provide education targeting vulnerable groups such as social welfare facilities to help eliminate welfare blind spots."

Earlier, to revitalize the 'Gyeonggi Visiting Financial Education Project,' the province signed a business agreement on the 24th of this month with the Korea Inclusive Finance Agency and the Gyeonggi Welfare Foundation to support the strengthening of financial capabilities for vulnerable groups.
