Promoting a Tournament Befitting the Largest Scale in History
A meeting was held at the Seoul Olympic Parktel between Jinju City and the Korea Weightlifting Federation to collaborate on the preparation for the ‘2023 Jinju Asia Weightlifting Championships’.
The meeting, held on the 23rd, was attended by about 15 people including Mayor Jo Gyu-il and Chairman Choi Seong-yong of the Korea Weightlifting Federation. It was organized to review the progress of the event and future plans, and to check the matters that need to be prepared before the competition.
At the meeting, Mayor Jo said, “Thanks to the cooperation of the Korea Weightlifting Federation, the preparations for the competition are progressing smoothly. I would like to express my deep gratitude to Chairman Choi Seong-yong and the federation officials.” He added, “Not only the competition but also various cultural events are being prepared, so I hope all weightlifters in Korea will unite and participate in the Jinju competition.”
In response, Chairman Choi said, “Thanks to the efforts of the mayor and Jinju city officials, 36 countries have registered, setting a remarkable record in the history of Asian weightlifting.” He added, “All weightlifters in our country will do their best until the end to ensure the success of the Jinju competition.”
Meanwhile, Jinju City plans to actively reflect the contents of this meeting in the preparation for the competition. Additionally, based on the final entry deadline on April 3, the city will consult with the Korea Weightlifting Federation regarding the operation of the event to promote a perfect competition worthy of the largest Asia Weightlifting Championships ever held.
