"Cannot Overlook Pro-Japanese Submissive Diplomacy"
Democrats "Will Judge Through a State Audit"
Lee Jae-myung, leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, mentioned the 113th anniversary of the martyrdom of An Jung-geun and said, "We will do our utmost to correct the submissive diplomacy of the Yoon Seok-yeol government."
On the 26th, Lee stated on Facebook, "The dream of 'peace in East Asia' left by An Jung-geun is more urgently needed than ever."
He said, "Today marks the 113th year since An Jung-geun's martyrdom," adding, "Perhaps because it is shameful to face our ancestors who died for the country under pro-Japanese submissive diplomacy, this year the meaning feels even more special."
He continued, "Recently, a handwritten note by An Jung-geun in prison saying 'Long live peace in East Asia' was newly confirmed," and said, "The 31-year-old Joseon youth shot the heart of imperialism, represented by invasion, plunder, and war, with a firm belief in peace in East Asia."
He pointed out, "Thanks to the dedication of our patriotic ancestors, the status of the Republic of Korea has risen to an incomparable level compared to the past, but the international environment surrounding us is not easy," adding, "In the midst of such urgent changes in the international situation, the Yoon Seok-yeol administration is distracted by excessive generosity toward Japan and is voluntarily playing the role of a pawn in factional conflicts."
He continued, "They have dragged down the national dignity, which was elevated by the sacrifices of our patriotic ancestors, to the lowest point," and said, "They have granted amnesty to Japan, which is reviving the specter of militarism that once invaded the Korean Peninsula."
Lee said, "I hope the Yoon government reflects on the historical lessons," adding, "Submissive diplomacy that entrusts our fate to other countries cannot overcome the waves of US-China conflicts and the crisis on the Korean Peninsula, nor protect our people."
On the same day, Im Oh-kyung, spokesperson for the Democratic Party, also stated in a commentary, "We cannot overlook the Yoon administration's disastrous pro-Japanese submissive diplomacy," emphasizing, "We will thoroughly investigate and judge the submissive diplomacy of the Yoon administration through a national audit."
