Kang Sung-hoon Tied for 31st... Hoigore and Stevens Share the Lead

Corales Puntacana Championship Round 3
No Seung-yeol Tied 38th, Bae Sang-moon Tied 71st

Kang Sung-hoon's determined effort.

Kang Sung-hoon Tied for 31st... Hoigore and Stevens Share the Lead Kang Sung-hoon reduced 2 strokes in the 3rd round of the Corales Puntacana Championship and is tied for 31st place.

On the 25th (local time), Kang Sung-hoon added 2 under par in the third round of the PGA Tour Corales Puntacana Championship (total prize money $3.8 million) held at the Corales Golf Course (par 72, 7,670 yards) at the Punta Cana Resort & Club in the Dominican Republic, placing him tied for 32nd (5 under par, 211 strokes). While world stars competed in the World Golf Championships (WGC) Dell Technologies Match Play (total prize money $20 million) during the same period, Kang was on a relatively easier stage for the win. Although the prize money is smaller, the rewards such as a two-year PGA Tour card are the same.

Kang started tied for 35th, 8 strokes behind the leader, and recorded 5 birdies and 3 bogeys. After consecutive birdies on holes 3 and 4, he took a brief breather with a bogey on the 5th hole (par 4), then added two more birdies on holes 7 and 11. A bogey on the 12th hole (par 5) was recovered with a birdie on the 15th hole, but a bogey on the final 18th hole (also par 4) was disappointing. He is 9 strokes behind the leader but only 5 strokes behind 10th place. This season, Kang has played in 7 tournaments, with his best finish being tied for 29th at last month's AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am.

The 'twin golfer' Nikolaj Højgaard (Denmark) surged with a 6-under-par round to take the top of the leaderboard at 14 under par, 202 strokes. Sam Stevens (USA) also shot 4 under par to join the group tied for the lead. Matt Wallace (England), who was the leader the previous day, lowered his score by 2 strokes but slipped to a tie for 3rd place (13 under par, 203 strokes), just 1 stroke behind. From Korea, Noh Seung-yeol recorded a 4-under-par 68 to rise to tied 38th (4 under par, 212 strokes). Bae Sang-moon struggled with a 6-over-par 78, placing him at the bottom tied for 71st (5 over par, 221 strokes).
