Defense Attorney: "Will Appeal Within the Designated Period"
Court Orders 30-Day Detention Extension Due to Flight Risk
Kwon Do-hyung, CEO of Terraform Labs, who was arrested in Montenegro over the 'Terra·Luna crash incident,' is expected to appeal the local court's decision to extend his detention period.
According to Montenegro's daily newspaper 'Vijesti' on the 25th (local time), Kwon's lawyer Branko Anzelic stated, "We will appeal the court's decision to extend the detention period within the designated timeframe." The Podgorica court in Montenegro's capital ordered an extension of the detention period by up to 30 days for Kwon and his associate Han Mo the day before. The reason cited was the risk of flight as Kwon and others have residences in Singapore, and their identities have not been clearly verified.
Kwon was detained after being arrested on the 23rd at Podgorica International Airport while attempting to board a flight to Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE), with a forged Costa Rican passport along with Han Mo.
Montenegro allows detention of suspects for a maximum of 72 hours. The Podgorica District Prosecutor's Office requested an extension from the court, which accepted the prosecution's request after questioning the suspects.
If Montenegro authorities proceed with the trial for Kwon's forged passport case independently and Kwon's side appeals, it is expected to take a considerable amount of time until a final conclusion is reached.
